AMREF Canada is the Canadian arm of the African Medical & Research Foundation. With 18 offices around the world, AMREF is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya and active throughout the African continent.

AMREF started 50 years ago as the Flying Doctor Service and since then has grown into the leading international African health organization with major impacts in HIV/AIDS, malaria, safe water & sanitation, and training and education of the next generation of African medical and health workers.

The Gates Foundation awarded AMREF with its Global Health Award for 2005 for making a major and lasting contribution to health in Africa.

AMREF's mission is simple: to ensure access to good health for the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Africa.

With their active involvement, AMREF develops innovative and sustainable solutions to critical health challenges facing the continent.

In Canada, AMREF supports this incredible work by raising funds, providing project support, building capacity, raising awareness and engaging the Canadian public in African health development.
