OUR WORD
the people of my community young and old are still stunted by the generaltional social issues that are a direct result of colonization and assimilation. the children of my community are lost. they spend a significant amount of time searching for something not exactly sure what it is. Our language and traditions need to be available to all who seek them. We need to feel secure enough in ourselves at home to be able to be in "white mans world". We feel that a green arts driven youth center is definately a huuuge step in the right direction!!!a step that would permit the kids to be confident, creative and understand that sucess is okay and most importantly obtainable. We also are trying to create an Onwehowe Youth network to have that connection to our people all over

about me
went my whole life seeing the effects that colonization had on my people.i am a statistic. i seek positive change, through inspiration and encouragment. I decided the cycle would end with me, there is no other choice. i had my first daughter at 15 my second at 16, escaped an abusive relationship. finished highschool at 18. Did one year of college in the Child and Youth Worker Program but was in a rediculous car accident and had to remove myself from the emotionally heavy daily activities of being a Child andYouth Worker. So i decided what beeter way to heal myself than learn my lanuage, who i REALLY am!!!!! I am currently in a full time University adult emmersion prgram on Six Nations reservation. This program is intense!!!! 7 hours a day no english!!!!!!!!

Through out this me along side my trusty partners in crime have mannaged to put on a Youth Rally in 2008, stop local HWY traffic for hours to educate on our isues and mannaged to collect a few thousand dollars, cause tons of rukas at political meetings and hold a forum on the effects of the 2010 Olympics on Aborignal People in Brittish Columbia!
