Program Summary Make Noise Contact an MP, MPP, City Councilor. Believe it or not, making noise can create positive change in our communities. Unfortunately creating change through government can be painfully slow and bureaucratic. That being said, it doesn’t mean that letting them know how you feel won’t make a difference. These elected officials are supposed to be responsible for the people and answer to the people, so in essence they work for us!! Let’s not forget that. So if you have a beef, don’t just bitch take action - say something! Go to speaker’s corner or send a letter to your government officials. It may sound old, but it is better than nothing, and it’s easy to do. If more people did so, the interests of the people would be served much more. There are many powerful lobby groups that constantly pressure our elected officials and often influence policy decisions within our government. It’s hard to fight the powers that be. I believe it’s very important and underestimated how powerful taking alternative approaches to change and working outside the system can be. If people are shown a different way of doing things and living they will follow without the need to convince. That being said and I believe it to be very true using the system can have its powerful advantages as well. Just as you have seen in many movies and other stories, the big bad rulers and people in control of the masses are often defeated by using their own tactics and games against them. So let’s beat them at their own game. Get millions of signatures, make noise enact the power of the people. The power of the masses is the biggest untapped resource in creating social and revolutionary change. What would all the powerful companies and corporations do if a million people refused to go to work until they received a better workplace environment or wages or benefits the list goes on… I’m telling you we could grind this crazy machine to a halt if we chose to, we just need to be convinced that it’s possible. I am trying, researching and thinking as much as possible how to make these things happen. So I challenge you to make some noise and think outside the box. I want to hear from you and learn from you, this is the way forward. If we can all learn from each other and feed off each other, there is no telling where we can go.
