My name is Happy Frejo and I'm Pawnee, Seminole & Xicana from Oklahoma and I am a part of NVISION. I love 4REAL because I believe in their vision for global and social change, no frontin they are....4REAL.

They were interested enough to come out to our community in Pawnee, Oklahoma and interact with the Pawnee youth. Alot of people have forgotten about the native youth today whom we call the 'Seventh Generation.' The first peoples of this land that we call Turtle Island. There isn'r enough attention on the youth and the issues they face right here in native communities and on reservations. Some of the reservatios here look like Third world countries. Right here in Americas own backyard.

People think we got it good because we have casinos and are our own soverign governments. But its just the opposite in alot of communities. Not every tribe has a casino or even enough medical care for the people in the communities. I have sat in indian clinics and waited hours and hours to be seen all the while feelin like i was gonna die. They used to work on a 'first serve' basis. Now its 'who's in the worst condition'. In my last visit I had had it! I looked around and saw the elders who looked like they were in bad shape the little ones crying sicker than anything I've seen. I was saddened......

What our people have gone thru and survived and what has benen taken away from us and we cant even get proper medical care??? I do not understand this country and its government. They do not care about the indigenous people of this land and they wanna call us 'immigrants'? I don get it.

These native youth are our future. They will be what changes everything for our people. It is why I do the work that I do by pouring into them and encouraging them to go for their dreams. But it can be hard because some of these youth dont even have a community center to go to or even a park to play at. Barely a basketball goal with a proper court. Not to say some of these youth are not happy but some are not offered the tools or places to truly express their gifts. Therefore causing poor choices. Like school dropouts, Gang interest, Drug and Alcohol Abuse and not too mention the high suicide rate among native teens.

This is why I am involved........ This.....is my story. And this issue has gone ignored for too long. It is why I dedicate myself to the native youth of this nation. They are what motivate me to persevere as I run, dance, move my way towards my dreams. My desire is "TO PROMOTE HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT IN TODAYS YOUTH SO THEY MAY GAIN THE ABILITIES TO ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS"....hf*

I aim to do whatever I can to help lower the the suicide rate among the native people of this land, turtle island. The hopes and dreams of these youth keep my fire ignited and inspire me to be the best me I can be.
