Wanted: Teaching Inspirations/Ideas
Be a great teacher by inspiring student to make the most of their life! I'm doing my first long term practicum this spring (High Social Studies), so want to make my lessons engaging and fun for students. Tehe last 5 years i've been worked on the environment causes relative to indigenous people, conservation of their traditional knowledges and land, especially in the amazon basin and Acre state. Now beginning to back to my professional stuffs (write and direct movies) on the same matters. Im helping jungle friends to produce a movie about traditional Kuntanawa music, and a short fictional story with indian cast, spoke in kaxinawa language.

There is so much miscommunication and ignorance surrounding the subject when it is such a large scale issue and I believe that it bears great importance. I believe that the idea should not be to do everything for the people in the struggling communities but to simply help where it is needed so that people can flourish on their own. One life, one step at a time.
I'm saddened to see the state fellow human beings live in just 20mins away from my comfortable home. Especially my Quran teacher and gardener. Thus I want to make a change in the way they, and others, live one step a time.
Another way I am helping is Mapambano. This means struggle in swahili, but it is also the name of a company my brother and I started which buys from artisans in Kibera. We hope this company will grow, create jobs and make people lives better in Kibera.

As part of Social Justice 12 my students are required to come up with a student action plan...one that will target one of the issues we learn about during our class discussions. My goal is to have these students put their plans into action within our own community, possibly with the help of (guiding of) organizations in other cities or communities as we are a very small rural town and have very few social justice resources located directly in our area.

Indigenous Steps
I am passionate about preserving cultures, traditions, and rituals, especially those of indigenous peoples. Myself being Maliseet, my culture has become nearly extinct. The language is almost gone, our chants, and songs are gone. Most of our spirituality is gone, and so on. However we did just publish a Maliseet-Pasamaquoddy dictionary, to reinforce the language crisis. But yes, i participate in Children's Internation Summer Village (C.I.S.V), and Junior Achievement, and things like that.

I've never been a huge meat eater but for months now have been thinking about making a commitment to go completely vegetarian -- for ethical, environmental and health reasons. (Each of those areas is sufficient, really, to go for it!) So, it's been two weeks now and I feel great!

I am passionate about children and elderly. I want to help the children to have a happy future and the elderly to enjoy their journey toward the end of this life. I particulary am passionate about being a support for those on hospice to be as comfortable and at peace as they can be and supporting their loved ones through this difficult time.

There are so many factors that affect social change. As a film festival, we have found our role to be that of reflecting what is actually going on in society. We have a responsibility to program meaningful, topical films.
Hopefully, we can draw attention to issues people might not otherwise explore if they weren't shown in a film festival in their community.

However, I also see the power of media in manipulating (good or bad) the thoughts of these youth. In my life I choose to understand people before I judge them, to pull positives out of negatives, and to be grateful, everyday, for the blessings in my life. Right now, music and knowledge are my gateways to doing so.

Its main aim to celebrate Malawi's contemporary arts/culture by highlighting its fine and visual arts, literature and music. This is achieved through, among other things, by holding live shows, publishing interviews/articles, etc.

As a young woman, I am scared to walk alone at night in my own neighborhood. Is this justice? No. Young women shouldn't fear for their lives while walking in their own territory.
I'm passionate to achieve equality.

I don't know. I just want to make the world a better place for everyone because I am a humanist (aka humanitarian). I think that the more we work together for a common goal the more we can achieve. I mean why leave the world as it is when we can make it better for everyone.

I am an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and I have set up a speakers bureau called the "Faces of Homelessness" Story Tellers. My speakers and I go into civic organizations and give presentations on homelessness. There are many issues that follow homelessness and people tend to forget that homeless people are people. The goal of the Story Tellers is to place a face on homelessness and make homeless people human again.

i grew up in a town right outside off memhis called collierville. on one side the tracks u had it on the other side u didnt. i was on the side that didnt, i thought. i dealt with racism,poverty, and depression, but when i moved to memphis as an adult, my issues were nothing compared to the things outside of my small town. violence, real poverty, drugs, women on drugs{that was shockn to me}, homelessness, and the list goes on. it made me c things way different. we{the world} need a change.

The Future of Paraguay
I am from Paraguay and I came to the US about 8 years ago. My mother help little kids in need so I have promessed myself that when I am able to get enough money I will help the thousand of kids that are living in the streets of Paraguay and are being abuse. I belive that if the have a nice place to sleep were they can feel safe and are able to get an education, they will be the ones who will build a peaceful, rich and beautiful Paraguay.

I have a heart for the youth of this nation/world. They need people in their lives that will accept them for who they are and be a uncompromising force in their life. I want to open up youth centers. A place where kids can come after school and get tutoring, kick it with other kids, play sports, have Bible studies, have open mic night (where they perform talents) and get involved in their community. Not every home is a kosher place to be so I want to be there for the one that is searching.

I see people all over the media suffering, it might be close to home or on the other side of the world. Seeing these people saddens me and i want to change things. I am still really young and but i want to do what i can. This world can be a cruel place, but with the help of people who care and want to change things, it can help the lives of so many people. It just takes 1 person and the rest will follow :). i would like to make a difference in the world.

I go to school for photography and now anthropology. I am learning day by day all of the small things I can do to help whomever or whatever. I believe in living more consciously of the world around us and in educating ourselves from birth until death. I believe in tolerance, even when it is the hardest thing to do.
I want to take what I learn from college, share it with the world and live a life that doesn't harm anyone else's.

I am passionate about the environment and having proper health care world-wide. I will be starting off on a bike ride from Cairo to Cape Town which raises funds to bring bicycle ambulances into small communities.

I'm passionate about youth involved in crime, and just youth period. I'm passionate about youth establishing and achieving their goals and dreams. So often youth get rapped up in the here and now, and what's "HOT" today, not what they can do to be "HOT" tomorrow, whether it's on TV, in a boardroom, instructing a classroom, or whatever they've ever imagined doing. I do this by starting at home, making sure they my baby sister has a dream and works everyday to achieve that dream!

Help Haba na Haba secure a home
My dream as a child was to establish a creative arts center for young poor peolple. in the last 10 years with assistance from friends and donors, I have managed to build a programme with over 500 young artists in one of the largest slums in kenya, Mathare.
Haba na Haba has become the new home for art expression in this area and many young people have found a home to build their talent.

Education Celebration
I am primarily passionate about building teaching institutions for small communities of the third world. This passion was instigated by the youth in my hometown of Cambridge, Ontario. I see children throwing away their educational futures to drugs and other addictions. They are not taking advantage of how blessed they are to have a stable system of education. They are being provided with a future -the only thing is, we need the effort from both the student and the teacher.

The Soccer Dream
i want to help homeless and poor kids in Mexico to have more fun and be inspired to do something. Also I want them to have a sense of community and personal accomplishment. I want to start community soccer teams all around Mexico city, get pitches, and jerseys, so on... as it grows, get some tournaments going between the communities, and when it grows EVEN further, expand it to other cities, until it reaches a national level.

Even though our environment is so highly polluted I think it's important for communities across the world to have access to water treatment I think it's ridiculous for children to be dying everyday because of poor water conditions. Something needs to be done, we all deserve clean water, it's definitely a basic need, the one thing no one can live without!

Right now - its about creating clothing here in Kenya which really rocks. We make cowboy shirts from recycled fabrics and clothing which made its way here from the West (remember those old clothes you didnt want?). We then remix and reuse old garments and make em fresh again. It's really fun, it creates some jobs and we would like to see our company "Kila Kitu Clothing" (www.kilakituclothing.com) start to make a difference in cleaning up the environment here in our community...

The issues I'm most interested in right now are mostly environmental- I know that that's a hugely broad spectrum but I'm not yet sure where to place my focus. (That's something I need to work on).

I find passion in life and learning. I'm drawn to issues of HIV/AIDS, especially its effect on family members and children. I love culture and embracing traditions as they were in the past. I feel living in a 1st world country we've lost a sense of ourselves. I believe strongly in animal rights and fighting for breeds such as pit bull and rottis. I'm also an avid outdoor enthusiast and find a lot of interest in geology and the creation of earth's design.

What I would like more than anything is to bridge gaps between different ethnicities. In my highschool, this year I co-organized an event we named "CultureShock" which was a multicultural talent show. It's purpose was to showcase the talent of the Tamanawis students, as well as display the diverse tapestry of multiculturalism at our school and in our community.

Helping those in need
I really love animals and the farming life, i want to be able to take my education to the next Step and help people in developping countries practice and learn farming techniques so they can improve their quality of life!! Hopedully one day it will help reduce hunger and poverty to at least one family!!!

There are 33.2 Million people living with AIDS. 22.5 Million live in sub sahara Africa. 2.1 million died in 2007 but 2.5 million were newly infected. There are 12 million AIDS orphans living in Africa. It is my goal to save all of them! To offer them a life full of love and acceptance and normalcy. To instill a sense of pride and dignity. To raise them up as defenders of mankind.

In practice, I'm a concert/festival promoter (CHMA Stereophonic in Sackville, campus programming at Mount Allison U, now Dawson City Music Festival up in the Yukon).
And am diving back into theory in the fall, taking a M.A. in Cultural Policy at U of Chicago.
Creating communities of aware, self-empowered, sensitive and INVOLVED people through facilitating grassroots cultural activity.

I am starting to raise awareness in Alaska through Myspace and by providing posters and information for the Survival International Organization. In the future I am planning on having a local group focused on human rights and to add a stall at the Summer Market to provide information to locals and our tourists.

right now, the program im working on in the Dominican Republic is a program my wife and i started called Pollos Fighting Poverty. The program has provided the materials to make a chicken coop with 15 chickens for three families to work together and use the coop as an extra source of food and income. The community of El Café in the DR is an extremely poor region of the city, much like the flavelas of brasil, but on a much smaller scale.

Giving to Others
I am very passionate about helping others all over the world. i have been volunteering for many years now and it gives me such a good feeling knowing that i am helping others. i have just came back from a 2 month trip in south africa volunteering in an orphanage. it was a life changing event and would like continure to do more things like this in my own community.

I have created an organization called YAUDA - Youth Action for Unification and Detraumatization Activitives. I was inspired to have created this organization due to the fact of ongoing wars all around the world. Thereby affecting vast majority of the world youths. They are most of the time abused by warlords by recruiting them as child sodiers, victims of rape, torture, drugs and a lot of inhuman activitives.
The sole activities of this organization will be focused upon taking youths back...

Positive change. Yes I know this is very broad, but this is exactly what I am passionate about. Positive change that crosses gender, race, culture, imaginary borders, etc.
Specifically in Panama!? Many of the young and upcoming adults are lost due to lack of vision and a false sense of the real reality. The government's stance; none, towards the marginalized communities doesn't help much.

Change the World...One Day at a Time
I am passionate about helping children around the world and helping put a stop to the cruel injustices forced on them. I am also passionate about causes that help those who are ignored and disenfranchised from the so called "majority". I am fortunate enough to be able to get an education that will give me the tools I need to accomplish my dreams. I plan on going to medical school, obtaining my M.D./Ph.D. degree and then do research and work in both my community here in the States and overseas.

I want to make a difference
I am passionate about children and about helping anyone who needs the help. I have been recently inspired to make a difference and so right now I am running a bottle drive out of my dorm room entitled "Bottles (and cans) for Kenya". I just want to make a difference in their lives.
